Born and raised in Punaluʻu, Guy Enriques has spent the majority of his life serving the people, communities, and places he deeply loves. A lifelong resident of Kaʻū, Guy’s roots run generations deep in the district, where family, culture, community, and stewardship have always been central to his life’s work.
Known throughout Hawaiʻi and the Pacific Northwest as a respected coach, mentor, and community leader, Guy has dedicated decades to developing young people through athletics, leadership, and service. As the founder and director of one of the Northwest’s largest and longest-running volleyball camp programs, he has helped thousands of student-athletes build confidence, discipline, teamwork, and character both on and off the court.
Guy also served as a Hawaiʻi County Council member, where he worked to bring meaningful results to the district, including improvements to community facilities, public safety, and infrastructure projects that continue to benefit local residents today.
Beyond coaching and public service, Guy has become widely recognized for his lifelong commitment to the stewardship of Punaluʻu Black Sand Beach and the surrounding Kaʻū coastline. Through his efforts with Mālama Pono Punaluʻu, Guy has worked to help preserve and protect one of Hawaiʻi Island’s most treasured cultural and natural resources.
For Guy, stewardship is not simply a project — it is a kuleana (responsibility) that has been passed down through generations. He believes caring for the land, protecting the culture, and serving the people are all deeply connected.
Whether through coaching, public service, community events, or environmental stewardship, Guy Enriques continues to lead with the same guiding values: service, integrity, hard work, humility, and aloha.

For most of my life, stewardship has not been something I talked about — it has been something I lived every single day. Growing up in Punaluʻu taught me the importance of caring for the land, protecting our natural resources, respecting our culture, and serving the community around us. Those values became the foundation of who I am.
Over the years, I have dedicated myself to the stewardship of Punaluʻu Black Sand Beach and the Kaʻū coastline through hands-on service and community involvement. From helping protect honu, Hawaiian monk seals, and nēnē, to beach cleanups, storm recovery, visitor education, and serving as extra “eyes and ears” for the beach after lifeguard hours, I have always believed that mālama ʻāina — caring for the land — is a responsibility we all share.
To me, stewardship is more than environmental protection. It means taking responsibility, showing up consistently, solving problems, and leaving things better for the next generation.
Today, I want to bring that same lifelong commitment and stewardship mindset to all of District 6 — from Kaʻū to South Kona to Volcano. Just as I have worked to protect and care for Punaluʻu, I believe our communities deserve leadership that listens, serves, protects, and plans for the future with integrity and aloha.
District 6 is not just where I live — it is my home. And I believe leadership should reflect the same values we use to care for our families and our land: respect, responsibility, hard work, and a genuine commitment to the people.
